I voted!

I have already cast my vote for the 2008 Presidential election, as well as other elected officials and propositions.

I am a huge fan of the permanent absentee ballot. Anytime my district has a vote, a ballot is mailed to me in advance. It gives me the time to research the issues or candidates online before casting my vote. I've also voted in all of elections and on all of the issues since we put ourselves on the permanent absentee ballot (which was about three years ago).

If you're not on it, I highly recommend it. No more standing in line to vote, no more trying to find your official voting location, no more forgetting to go vote.

Come election day, my right to vote has already been taken care of.

PS - I try to stay away from politics on this blog, but I haven't found a direct answer for this question from someone I know. If you are a McCain/Palin supporter, what is your opinion on Palin? More specifically, why do you think she is a good choice for VP? (I really want to know, there is no sarcasm or mocking intended with this question).

Does this mean you might FINALLY tell me who you voted for in 2000? You know - it's still on my mind! Haha.

Debates aren't even over.. and you've already voted?? Sad.
I like Palin. I can't back it with "profound reasoning" so I won't even try. Maybe they hypnotized me during the VP debates. I dunno.

To answer your question on Palin, you must first provide me with an answer for why you would support either Obama, who is a first term, straight ticket voting senator from a state that loves to screw things up and has a history of corruption or Biden, who needs a haircut at a minimum and is also a lifer in the senate with no prospects for fixing they way things are currently done. Congress is controlled by the dems, if they want to fix it so bad, they have had ample time to fix it. My question would be, why do we need a new president to fix our government, the people that are screaming change are the one's in power right now! I'm voting for the lesser of two evils, I don't believe in socialism on any level.

Sincerely,
Morgan

I do not yet know enough about Palin to make a well defined argument for or against the validity of HER candidacy, nor would I classify myself as a "supporter".

However (correct me if I'm wrong), I imagine that the underlying question here is "Why do you think a governor is a good choice for VP?"

There have been 16 presidents and countless vice presidents who came from a governor's office. Some of the bigger names are Jefferson, Monroe, FDR, Reagan, Carter, and Clinton.

In Palin's case, I think that any trepidation one feels comes not from her office, but from the state she represents. There are 74 people in Alaska, and that does not inspire the type of "executive confidence" that, say, a New York or California would.

In my humble opinion, distaste for Palin should be a direct reflection of her policies, which is subjective, rather than her office, which has a touch of objectivity to it.

Plus, she's hot.

I honestly think that she's a great choice for VP because she gives me more confidence in voting for McCain. Her moral standing is a huge thing for me as I would love to know that the 2nd in command of our country is looking to God as her first commander.
I often wish that Palin or someone more like her was on the Republican ticket as the No 1 spot, but because I can't stand Obamas turn toward socialism and stance on abortion, I suppose I'm picking the lesser of two evils this go around.
In the end it really doesn't matter because God is truly the one in control. I just fear that He may be giving America over to their sin by allowing a corrupt leader to be in charge (as He has done throughout history) to bring His people back to Him.
That's just my opinion:)

Socialism, sin, corruption...All are active parts of American government and always will be. Palin is no different than any of them, just look at her short record. Oil, money and power, baby. Just like everyone else.

Even republicans are big government now. I'm sure you can think of a recent example :)

I voted for Obama. Why? Because everything about him will shake America up, from his skin color to his policies. And it's the other side's turn to bitch and moan incessantly.

If nothing else, he'll replace the current arseholes with a new batch. McCain would basically keep the same crew. Tired of seeing Karl Rove.

I wonder if I'm in labor on election day if they would let me vote from the hospital. Is it strange that I've actually thought about it?

isn't it funny that people assumed from your question (even though you validated it completely) that you were being sarcastic? wow.

palin palin palin . . . why would she be a good candidate . . . hmmmm . . . is it her folkisms? her hotness? her abstinence only education that obviously worked? using her power to get someone fired over a personal grudge? banning books from a school library? now that i think about it, i think she'll fit in just fine on the national and international level acutally . . .
