Ok, I'm done

Never will I ever buy an old house again. I'm so sick of the replacements, the imperfections, the constant and expensive maintenance. I want to move.

We have three more leaks. One in the laundry room, one in the bar and one in the recently finished garden room. Luckily the garden room was easily fixed, but the mold growing up through the carpet was a stinky, nasty mess. The laundry room and bar leaks are still a mystery. A mystery that will require us to cut away the walls in order to discover the true source. Right now we're just guessing where the water might be coming from.

The irony? We had no leaks until we put new carpet in the basement. New carpet leak total: five.

Yes, I understand that having a house means constant maintenance, but this is getting ridiculous. I'm tired of dealing with all of this crap amongst all the little repairs we have to do in order for our house to be in decent working order.

So our next house will be new. None of this "old with character" crap. I want new. New outlets, new floors, new toilets, new baseboards, new garage, new roof, new water heater, new wiring, and definitely new plumbing.

I'm sorry Lori! I am hoping for you that the fixes for the other leaks are easy ones!!

I think that would be my choice as well. I am tired of "fixer uppers". I am ready for a new house.

I am sorry all of your rooms are breaking apart at once. :(

A new house won't fix it all, but I guess the warranty helps. Yesterday, Eli and I had the house all set up and the food all prepared to be thrown on the grill and set out for dinner with the family, uncles, aunt, and grandma for my dad's birthday when the A/C went out. In 90+ degree weather and high humidity. We've been in our new house just over a year and we've had the AC guy out about every other month. It's ridiculous. Thirty minutes before everyone was supposed to arrive, we had to pack everything up and move it over to my parent's house. Such a pain in the ass. Good luck finding the leaks!!!

Awww that sucks girl. Ab and I had that discussion when looking for "older" houses. It was totally worth it to get a newer one. Hopefully you'll get to sell yours soon and get something better! Maybe closer to us...

I know what you mean. Our house isn't even that "old" but I guess we're right at the time that everything needs an update or replacing. Brand new would be nice! Sorry about all your leaks.

I couldn't agree with you more. I've always wanted to buy a house to "fix up" over time, but when I finally bought - I bought a 5 year old home that was in immaculate condition! I'm proud of you for what you've done so far though!

I am sorry you are having so much crap go on!! I totally agree with new, when David and I were looking to buy a builder friend of ours said "let me build you one"...that is by far the best desicion we have made!! Good luck on fixing/selling the current one and getting into a new one...I would reccommend building...it is great that it is new, but even better that you picked everything!! Good Luck!

leaks happen in new houses too...ask Al. As far as buying new, building, or buying old...think about where you want t live. Way the f*** out in BFE or in classy historic midvale.

Yeah, where exactly do you want this new house? I don't think we will let you leave the state. Naters would miss his cousins so much, and they would miss him (not to mention his only Uncle who gives him all the food he wants.)

I can't wait to see the pics of the room with the fabric. Plum, yes. That's funny you mention it. The funny thing was, we weren't sure we were going to use her, so she'd call and call and be really rude saying "when am I going to be on?". She like, really wanted to be on the show, yet she gets on it and then acted like she was forced. She was even worse than the show portrayed her. When she went to get her teeth whitened she like, wouldn't wear shoes in, and then complained the entire time... I could go on, but. Glad you caught it, good tv
