My not-so-dilemma

So, I'm sorry I haven't been posting comments on all of your blogs as of late. I have been reading, and I have been keeping up when I can. But because I use Google Reader, comments come well after I've read a post. It's been a while since I've been able to visit each of your blogs individually because I'm still suffering the ramifications of the sewage explosion, which has been taking up any free time that I might have to spare. I also have a job that I love, so I don't really spend a lot of time at work reading and commenting on blogs like I did at the evil ***** ***** ******* job. But never fear, comments will commence soon!

BSC and I will be celebrating our 5th anniversary on June 13th. We had big plans for this anniversary. We were going to combine our birthdays and anniversary and take a cruise to see BSC's best friend and wife. But then I got this job and didn't think it would be appropriate to take two weeks off, two weeks after my first day of work. So after we decided to nix the cruise, BSC said I could have the last part of my ring made. I've always wanted an anniversary band to match my diamond wedding band for the opposite side of my engagement ring. So the cruise money would be spent on my ring, yay! But then, the pipes exploded. The ring money had to be spent on working sewage pipes. I'm a bit sad about it, but I volunteered to give up my ring. I don't think it's wise to go into so much debt over an unnecessary (but also soooo pretty) ring. So we planned to just stay home and watch a movie for this year.

My new awesome boss overheard us talking about this situation the day after it happened. Toward the end of the day he pulled me aside and said "I really want you two to take off some time to celebrate your 5th anniversary. I'm going to give you and BSC $250 toward whatever you want to do." I was totally stunned! I couldn't believe that he would offer us money, especially that much money, to celebrate our marriage.

So here's my not-so-dilemma: What do we do with the money? Nice dinner, bed and breakfast, road trip, put it toward the ring, surprise BSC with something? Anyone have some fun suggestions?

I think a spontaneous trip to Tulsa would be wonderful!! You could celebrate in the city you got married in. HA!! That is SOOOO selfish.. sorry. Umm spend the money on a "date".. go ALL out and go to a place and order drinks that you normally wouldn't due to the fact it's so pricey. What fun!! Your boss is awesome!

What an awesome boss! I vote for a B&B. I've never been to one, but everyone I know that has, has loved it!

road trip to oregon, duh.

but if not, i think it'd be grand to surprise BSC (can you? doesn't he read??) with a super fun quick getaway. after all that's been going on lately, i think there'd be more value for you guys in using the money for some quality time together...the ring can come later!! see, you CAN have it all (just not right away...)

maybe they'll let you camp for a night on top of the temple? you know, the one with the gardens on top?

I definitely think you should plan something grand and surprise BSC!!! He was after all going to buy your ring and forfeit his cruise. I am so glad your new job is going well....a great boss can make all the difference in the world. Have a great anniversary!!

I'd vote bed and breakfast. In Midway there are a ton of cute bed and breakfasts nestled right up next to the mountain.
