Once again we see the lovely sheer pink/dirt brown drapes that match the brown stains on the carpet. Another feature of this highly decorated dining room is the amazing chandelier. I think the 1970's are stalking us trying to get their chandelier back. This ugly thing STILL has not been thrown in the dumpster. BSC seems to think that some poor soul will buy it from us on Ebay. Sorry dear, I don't think so. What's even more sad: Home Depot still sells this exact style of chandelier. I think it's time Home Depot considered hiring a new buyer in the lighting department.
After:
What we did: Installed new carpet, plantation shutters and painted stripes. It took BSC and I TWO WHOLE DAYS just to tape the stripes. BSC was confined to the floor holding a laser for each one of those lines. What a trooper! We put up new drapes and thanks to Jeremy and Kent, we were also able to install a new chandelier. The last picture is of my Degas sketches. I love these pictures so much I just had to share them with you all. As a former ballerina, it makes me happy to look at these. As for the light switch still not having a cover? We still need to install a dimmer switch because the new chandelier is a bit too powerful.
Stupid picture-thing isn't working right now, so here's the Shoe of the Day!

It looks fabulous!!! It really does. I love these before and after pics - it's like a makeover show!
I'm with BSC on the light thing. You wouldn't believe the light fixture I've saved from Nana & Poppy's Brady Bunch house to sell on Ebay. It looks like it came out of a torture dungeon.
NOW THAT is something! You did a fantastic job!
That looks awesome! Your are inspiring me and giving me some hope...currently we are house hunting in ohio, and I swear to God that it's a law that you have to decorate your house in the tackiest way possible....you really have to look through it!!
very nice... you've got quite the decorating eye.
i've gotta say, that IS a nice chandelier!
it looks great love the pictures and wallpaper
Lori - I like the Dining Room even better! Such an elegant and classy thing you've got going. Check this out - I was looking at your blog just now and Eric looked over (taking eyes from the Super Bowl) to say "Geez, that looks amazing. They painted those stripes?" So, your Dining Room officially rocks, to the point it drew Eric's attention from football, which he loves like few other things in the world.
I'm loving the updates! You guys fill the space so much better the the people before! You guys rock at the redecorating! My husband is away this weekend so I thought I'd do some redecorating just to teach him a lesson for leaving me alone... he he he.
BEAUTIFUL room! When you're ready for a new project...head on down to Louisiana, mkay?
and I LOVE the sketches! I want a set that depicts motherhood. They are so beautiful.
tell us more about the sketches, they're beautiful!
i heart degas.
Your house is amazing--you are more dedicated than I am to paint all the stripes! They look great! I can't believe the previous owners left all their stuff behind though...that's weird.
