Water World

Only 10:00am and things have already been going swell! As per my usual schedule of events, I awoke this morning at an ungodly hour and stumbled to the shower. My morning shower is just about the only thing that will wake me up. So please, don't mess with my shower. About midway through this awakening ritual I noticed that the water wasn't draining like it should. It stood in the bathtub right above my ankles. Damn it! I cut the shower short and as soon as the noise of the shower water subsided, I heard the water alarm beeping loudly from the furnace room. I threw on my robe and ran to the room to find the cats' litter box and food bowl floating around the drain where all the water in the house is supposed to be draining. Not this morning! This meant no more showers, no flushing the toilet, no doing laundry, no turning on water of any kind. Poor hubby was restricted to a shower of no longer than two minutes this morning. He was also instructed not to flush the toilet if he had to go to the bathroom. No fun morning.

By the time I left for work the water was slowly draining, luckily it didn't seep into the carpet, so there was no major damage. Relieved that I was away from the flooded house, I sat down at my desk to continue my morning routine: check my e-mail, check blogs, fill up my jug with water, take my vitamins. Though this morning, the routine didn't go over as smoothly as it usually does. I reached for my water, grabbing it by the lid ... big mistake! The lid wasn't secure, and all in slow motion I saw the entire jug of water flow over my desk like the tsunami that hit the poor unsuspecting people of Thailand. Calculator? gone. Post-it notes? gone. Pictures of my hotty husband? Salvaged, but damaged. Water was everywhere. It covered my entire desk and soon overflowed onto the floor, soaking delivery boxes, the printer, copier, and other electronic things. I just stood there and watched the whole thing happen, unable to grab a towel, co-worker, or any other object to help prevent further damage to other items on my desk. I spent the first hour of my day cleaning up water on my desk, trying to get my keyboard, mouspad and calculator to dry out. But I have to say this, I have never seen my desk so incredibly clean in my life! Maybe I ought to flood my office more often.

** Update on the new house: Floor people finally came. Two days late ... it's called a day planner people, use it! I picked out the tile so long ago, I had this fear that I would see the tile again and say "What was I thinking? That's the ugliest tile I've see in my life!" But luckily I still love the tile I picked out. The kitchen and bathroom tile will be completed today. And the carpet will start tomorrow. Potential move-in date: November 19th.

That is a horrible way to start your morning! Do you know why it flooded? I use to live in a house that flooded everytime it rained. The day my younger sister was born we had 4 feet of water in our basement and my bunk bed was on the freezer floating around. We finally got the pool we always wanted unfortunetly it was pumped out by the fire department.

This doesn't mean anything to you, but:
November 19th is my brother's 21st birthday! (same as your move-in date)

I wonder if he has friends like you and Kara to initiate him into a club called Lambda Kappa Gamma...?

Probably not. No one else is that lucky.

ooooh, that s.u.c.k.s. We don't have basements in Louisiana, so we don't have to worry about THAT type of flooding...(just the usual hurricane-grab-the-ark-kiss-your-ass-good-bye-type of flooding.)

; )

hope your day got better~!

Actually, has anyone ever watched the LKG video? Because I have never seen it, and I am curious...

I have the LKG video, hidden deep within the realms of my secret hiding place. I don't think I've ever watched it because it's still on one of those tapes you have to have a camera to play it on. Fun times!
