I'm Cursed

I was inspired to write this post by a blog I read entitled "The Waiter" (see side bar for the link). This blogger writes accounts of waiting tables, bad and good. Now, I would like to write my account of being waited on. Let me preface this by saying that I have never been a waiter, but I sympathize with them having to work so hard for so little money. No matter what, I have never and will never leave no tip. I may dock a tip, but I always tip anywhere from 13-25% depending on the service and as long as the waiter did not quit ...

Now boys and girls, let me tell you a little story about a girl who is cursed. Once upon a time a fabulous princess named Lori like to eat out at restaurants. When she was in college she and her prince-to-be ate out on quite a regular basis. But, there was an evil force amongst her which cursed her forever from having good service. The evil "Bad Waiter Queen" hated this lovely princess and wrote her name in the Book of Bad Service, causing this curse. For four years now she has never had good service. It all started out with the first waiter, who quit while waiting on her table without informing anyone. After waiting almost an hour for food, she found out that the waiter was nowhere to be found and the manager kindly gave them their meal for free. But, it does not end there. That very same night while ever so patiently waiting for their meals the manager came to them and said that the cooks had quit. Therefore, no more meals would be served in the restaurant that night. Ever since that fateful night, the princess has not enjoyed a meal out without something going wrong. She once ordered a lovely and rather expensive steak. This steak was so tough the steak-knife would not cut through it ... impossible to chew. The waiter took the steak back, without bringing a replacement meal and without taking the meal off the ticket. With her poor broken jaw the princess had to call the national office to get them to credit her card. From the argumentative waiter all the way to the disappearing waiter, this princess is ready for some good service. Some days are better than others but her royal family refuses to go out to eat with her because of the curse. What is a girl to do?

Sounds like quite an conundrum, if you ask me.

I agree with you about not ever leaving NO tip, with the exception of one time. I had such terrible service, I had to go to the bartender three times, once to see if the bar tender had seen our waitress (we needed to order, and it had been 20 minutes since we had seen her), once to see if our food was ready yet (we ordered, and it was ANOTHER 25 minutes), and another time to PAY (she vanished, and we needed to leave, we were on our lunch hour!). There were other tables that this same girl was waiting on, and they came and went, came and went, and we were still there! (It was weird, like we were invisible to her!) The manager apologized, and the waitress came out as we were leaving, but didn't even bat an eyelash that we had to go to all of that trouble. I left no tip at all. She didn't even care. So, she made $2.13 for waiting on us, and I'm not sorry if she isn't!

The fast-food industry has now learned of me. Today on my lunch break, the drive-through lady refused to give me ketchup! RUDE!
