"Vacation"

Basically this post is meant to make time go faster cause it's Friday afternoon and I want to go home. Everyone is home but me. I want to be home too. This is my way of pouting.

This next week BSC and I will be leaving the great state of Utah to visit his family in Oklahoma. I am beyond nervous. No, not nervous to spend time with his family, of course not! The plane ride scares the crap out of me. No, the actual flying part doesn't scare me, I usually sleep on planes. The fact that I'm about to travel with a seven-month old child is causing me sleepless nights. I have this incredibly horrible fear that Nathan will scream at the top of his lungs for the entire three-hour flight.

Our little boy is a bit sensitive to noise. So much so, that if he hears loud noises such as a lawnmower, weed-eater, power washer, car wash, saw, or other steady and loud sounds he freaks out. I'm certain that airplane noises fall right into this catagory.
First his little lips starts qwivering ...

Then his bottom lip sticks out to form the cutest little baby frowny-face ...

His frowny-face turns from cute to horrified as his mouth opens wide and eyes close ...

Then the most ear-piercing, high-pitched scream comes from his lungs, often compared to a smoke alarm.

His "scared cry" is awful. It hurts my ears. If it hurts his mom's ears I can only imagine what passengers on this flight are going to think when they hear him screaming. We're taking a late flight in hopes that Nathan will sleep most of the time (yes I know, he probably won't). I'm sure the other passengers are hoping to sleep too. I'm praying that Nathan will let them.

Please little Nate, be good for mama!

We are flying in July and I am so nervous of the same thing. I can handle anything on the plane except her screaming and the other passengers getting upset. Is there anything we can give them that will put them to sleep? :)

Lori, rest assured. There are two, maybe three essential items every Mom needs when flying with a baby. I only know this from flying with my son Jacob, all over the U.S. and world (New Zealand, Colorado, Texas, Tennesee, California) before he was 8 months old. #1- Breast milk/formula for feeding during ascents/descents to allow ears to equillibriate to pressure changes. #2 Baby benedryl, if you are afraid the screams will be out of controll. Give 30 minutes before take-off. #3 A passifier (assuming this still helps the little one to chill out).

we've flown with Judah a bunch, starting at 4 months and she's been fine everytime. We were surprised at how well she did, and continues to do on flights. I imagine Nathan will surprise you too.

Heads up! We're heading to SLC on the weekend of July 13th. It's my birfday and we're celebrating by coming to SLC to eat at Squatter's and see Amanda's baby. Hope we can hang out with you guys while we're there!

#1: how did the flight go?

#2: i NEED your organizing skills right now!! i am TRYING to sort through all of my belongings so i can move

#3: we would LOVE to see you on our way through Salt Lake city . . . I am not sure when we would arrive though, it could most likely be in the middle of the night . . . it takes 12 hours to drive there from where we are leaving (grants pass) and we plan to leave after my grandpa's birthday brunch . . . so 12 hours from 2 or 3 in the afernoon = 2 or 3 in the morning . . .

i really want it to work out though! so we'll see. how early or late is too early or late for you?

I can't wait to read about your trip to Oklahoma - did you eat lots of fried skin???

Faith used to freak when people would pound on the door. Actually, that one jars my nerves too.

Faith's scared cry freaks me out - and the really sad one breaks my heart. I think that's the way it's supposed to be.

I'm excited to hear about how the trip went.

The pics.. are precious. Precious!!
